BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky senior Abbey Cvelbar was chosen as the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Setter of the Week on Monday, the league announced from its Brentwood, Tennessee headquarters.
The Euclid, Ohio native helped the Colonels to a 3-1 record at the season-opening Radisson UCF Invitational in Orlando, Florida. Eastern beat Northeastern 3-2, and then shutout Florida International and Western Carolina on Saturday.
Cvelbar was the complete setter for EKU this weekend, recording 10.36 assists per set, 22 kills and a .391 attack percentage. In wins over FIU and Western Carolina, she helped Eastern to attack percentages of .297 and .322.
She had a match-best 49 assists with 12 kills and only two errors (.435) in a win over Northeastern. She led all players with 31 assists in the Colonels' loss to Central Florida. Cvelbar had a match-high 30 assists and four aces in a 3-0 victory over FIU. She closed the weekend with a match-best 35 assists, five kills, no errors and 15 digs against WCU.
The Colonels will play their first home match of the season on Wednesday against Marshall. The match, held at the newly renovated McBrayer Arena, will begin at 6 p.m.
