Chism selected as 2016 Distinguished Alum
EKU's Department of Applied Engineering and Technology, along with the School of Applied Arts and Technology, is pleased to announce that Mr. Kyle Chism has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2016.
Mr. Chism was honored during a presentation in April at the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology College to Careers Conference.
The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.
A four-time degree recipient from EKU, Chism began his academic career at EKU by earning his associate's in Computer Aided Drafting and the next year in Quality Assurance. He went on to earn his bachelor's in Manufacturing Technology and in 2003 finished his master's in Manufacturing Technology.
Leading a group that provides industrial automation for tier 1 automotive companies, he joined Chism Automation in a partnership with Yaskawa Motoman robotics to maximize local automation opportunities and capabilities. Chism has handled multiple roles as management, design, quality and process engineering in his nine years of automotive experience working with the customers Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Ford, Chrysler and GM.
Always looking to pay it forward, Chism creates opportunities for college students to gain valuable engineering experience during summer breaks. Chism received the Certified Manager of Quality / Operational Excellence certification from the American Society for Quality in October 2006.
Congratulations Mr. Chism on being selected as the 2016 Distinguished Alum representing the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology.
The department also honored distinguished seniors for the year. Mr. Charles Judd, from Berea, Ky., who is earning dual degrees with a BS in Network Security and Electronics and an AAS in Technology Computer Electronics Concentration, on being selected as the AET departmental distinguished senior. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2015-16 academic year were recognized and honored for outstanding achievement.
