AET selects Geoffrey Canter as 2014 distinguished alum

EKU's Department of Applied Engineering and Technology, along with the School of Applied Arts and Technology, is pleased to announce that Mr. Geoffrey Canter has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2014.

Mr. Canter was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology College to Careers Conference.

The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.

Mr. Canter is a 1995 alumnus from the Manufacturing Technology program and returned to earn his MS in Manufacturing Management in 1999.  He is currently a Component Engineering Manager at Lexmark International, Inc., in Lexington, Ky.

Mr. Canter has over eighteen years experience in the engineering disciplines of quality, metrology and inspection, manufacturing and operations. The last seven years have been in worldwide component engineering and metrology management. Worldwide teams under his management are responsible for component design, quality, tool design and build, qualification, approval and component production in five countries. Mr. Canter has extensive experience in supplier management as well as internal and external manufacturing operations.

Well accomplished and innovative, Mr. Canter holds a US Patent, is an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor and has his Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. While not on the job, he enjoys camping and competition hunting.

Congratulations Mr. Canter on being selected as the 2014 Distinguished Alum representing the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology.

The department also honored distinguished seniors for the year. Mr. Alexander Carson, a Graphic Communications Management major from Falmouth, Ky., was selected as the AET departmental distinguished senior. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2013-14 academic year were recognized and honored for outstanding achievement.
